It's important students, families and teachers are informed about the best educational options suitable to their needs. A zip code shouldn't determine the end goal for a student.
NC Taxpayers not using the government schools should not be forced to prop up failing systems via forced taxation. Families and their students should be able to opt out without being forced to pay for educational needs twice: one by government force and again with an independent K-12 option.
Instead of politicizing school board meetings, endless pay increases and subsidizing more benefits for a fraction of state employees, we might consider developing safe, fun, engaging classrooms which prepare North Carolina students for the challenges which the future brings.
North Carolina law falls behind the majority of other states when it comes to gun rights and our ability to defend ourselves from those seeking to do harm.
29 other states currently have permitless carry, or Constitutional Carry. North Carolina lawmakers have repeatedly failed to deliver Constitutional Carry to law-abiding residents. No one prohibit individuals from the right to self defense, yet it is commonly done under the guise of "common sense" rules and regulations. Criminals and murderers will find a means to use lethal methods against their victims, regardless of any restrictions written into NC General Statutes.
It's past time for NC to right this wrong.
Healthcare options are a critical aspect of everyone’s life. State policy should play a role in promoting a healthcare system that achieves better outcomes, but does it?
Reducing burdensome regulations such as Certificate of Need laws, would allow for ease of access and competitive costs for patients, while also granting interested healthcare providers with endless possibilities for delivering better patient care and diagnostics.
In healthcare, we should be thinking outside the box and not promoting the federal subsidy, but instead find ways to access basic, routine, preventative, diagnostic or emergent treatment without being fearful of running the risk of financial bankruptcy.
